Bird’s Eye View — Pinball
Pro Tips

Drop into Pinball, a new park joining the THPS 3 + 4 lineup played literally at the fingertips of the Birdman himself. Get the lay of the playfield and start planning your tricks and runs as you skate on and around the flippers, pop bumpers, wire rail, and through the dangerous river.

Hit up the arcade and shred high combos on Pinball, one of several new parks joining the lineup of original parks in the upcoming Tony Hawk’s™ Pro Skater™ 3 + 4, launching July 11 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch™ 2 and PC (Battle.net, Steam, Microsoft PC Store).

Pinball drops players into a pinball game featuring the tombstones of fallen skaters around a playfield filled with ramps, rails, and flippers at the control of Tony Hawk. Watch out for silver balls running down the board and track your best combo on the backbox display.

Developer Iron Galaxy Studios shares a special connection to pinball, many of its early members incorporating their knowledge acquired while working for Midway Games in Chicago, a prominent name in arcade and pinball gaming. This homage offers the perfect mix honoring their roots while flexing their creative skills in a wild new park design.

Check out Pinball early with this bird’s eye view examining the main points of interest in the park followed by tips to up your score on the board.

Bird’s Eye View: Pinball

Drop in and blast out high scores across the following points of interest around the park:

The Eyeball

As if in direct challenge, a large eye between the slingshots tracks the playfield above. Grind along the flippers and catch some air off the yellow ramps lining the area, including a sick jump right over the zombie’s mouth at the front of the machine. Catch the short railings on the rollovers here to boost your current combo multiplier and plan your next target up the board.

To reset your starting position, turn back and ride into the zombie’s mouth. Don’t worry, you won’t get eaten; it prefers to spit you back out over the top of the plunger where you first dropped into the park.

Skate

The left side of the playfield spells out SKATE through the middle, squeezed between the bird’s mouth and the center ramp giving access to the upper level. A ground ramp facing toward the front of the playfield offers the chance to get air when coming in from the back of the board, with grindable objects on either side.

For a quick journey to the back of the playfield, ride through the bird’s mouth, activating Multiball and teleporting your skater to the platform outside the mausoleum in the back left corner.

Brains

Sail past the SKATE floor to reach the brains section of the playfield, combining an assortment of grind rails and small to massive ramps including a trio of pop bumpers offering 360-degree air support.

Enter the scoop — the opening in the brick wall through the broken bars — for a quick trip up to the mausoleum above, giving access to the wire rail snaking over the playfield and a run of spinners that leads to a gnarly jump over the rooftops. If you’d rather take your chances on the other side of the board, skate up and over the green slime by the center bridge to move through the opening and out to the river.

Film Alley

Kick up your board and enjoy a horror movie playing on the big screen over the right side of the playfield. A yellow grind rail follows a twist in the road, while the adjacent curb also caters to a long grind. The center ramp leads to shut bars for now, though you can grind up its ledges to get up high if you’ve got the speed to push all the way up.

Against the wall, a tunnel gives open access to the other side. The best way of getting on its roof is from the top of the plunger, its boost pad easily vaulting you over the top splitting two ways toward the river, one of which features a second boost pad to keep the momentum going.

The River

Watch for hungry alligators chomping along the riverbed on the right side of the playfield. Grind over the backs of snakes and launch off the corner boost pad for huge air up the ramp running along the back wall. If you stick to the right wall starting from the plunger, you’ll hit three boost pads along the whole path for a massive run of speed.

Hit a fourth boost pad by skating into the open log after turning around on the back ramp. Hit the center grind rail as you travel under the water, then pop back out right back into film alley.

Pro Tips

1. Watch that ball! There’s a live game going on here, with none other than Tony Hawk in control of the flippers. Keep your eyes open for the silver pinball as it careens and rebounds around the playfield. The ball moves at a medium pace, giving you time to get out of the way, but fail to move and it’ll knock you over.

2. Beat your high score. A tracker on the backbox displays the highest point combo yet achieved in the run, lit up in bright green numbers for easy reading. Use it as motivation to beat your own score, pulling off intricate combos and special tricks to boost that number higher.

3. Highwire transport. The wire rails running over the playfield are perfect for long grinds and for getting across the board quickly without the need to skate around obstacles on the ground. Check your balance, build up a long grind combo, and get where you need to go fast.

4. Pinball highway. While you’re up on the wire rails, note the system of ramps and obstacles along the walls that extend the play space above the board. Incorporate both levels into your session to maximize combo opportunities.

5. Explore the board. Pinball is an intricate game with all kinds of hidden interactions meant to be discovered during play. The same goes for this park themed after the classic pastime; explore every ramp, rail, and hidden entrance to unlock the board’s full capabilities.
